Street Kids in Kathmandu

13/9/2016

Nepal is one of the world’s poorest countries and is still recovering from a decade-long conflict which led to the abolition of the monarchy and the formation of a republic in 2008. The poverty often impacts most on children.

Parents send their children to Kathmandu to improve their life chances but many children end up as poorly paid workers or on the streets where they are exposed to violence, abuse and exploitation. Many of the street kids partake in criminal acts, working as newspaper vendors, street singers, waste and beggars. EveryChild works with local partners to offer vulnerable minors safe accommodation, family reunions and vocational training.
