Children in Care in Georgia

16/9/2016

In Georgia, poverty, migration and conflict have led to greater numbers of children being placed in institutional care. But institutions are always harmful to children who are more likely to suffer from poor health, delays in cognitive, social and motor development and emotional attachment disorders compared with those growing up in a family setting. There are still too many children growing up in residential care in Georgia though EveryChild is working with the government to ensure that children grow up in a family or family-type care.
